As a child I was fascinated with cameras and photography but in the pre digital age it was expensive to develop film and learning from mistakes was costly. Over the years I took every opportunity to photograph moments and landscapes but my interested in photography was truly reignited after taken a short course at Sunderland college, this lead to a Foundation Degree in Photography. The bug took hold and now completing a BA (Hons.) in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging at Sunderland University.
Both College and University have allowed me to develop ideas and try different approaches to photography.
My childhood was spent in Hartlepool only a few minutes away from the sea and the beaches, since then I have always had a bond with the coastline of the north east. I now live in Sunderland and being far from the coast is unthinkable. I spend most weekends walking our beautiful coastline and photographing it. So many exciting things happen at our beaches, the beauty of the sea, wild life and nature, people walking their dogs, children playing and horses being exercised. There is always something new to photograph.

In 2013 I had my first baby photographic sitting, what a learning curve that was. The client requested contemporary look but not too posed or clichéd.

I was briefed by a client to photograph their wedding, they wanted a different approach, the day was to be recorded and but not take the guest away from the event. The photographs recorded the beautiful surroundings, details of the venue, dress and grounds, candid moments as well as some of the more classical groupings.

For my first commercial job, I produced a portfolio of work for Centre Front Studio in Felling. Their brief required a selection of shots that could be used to decorate their studio, be used on their website and in advertisements. The shoot took a half day and produced a portfolio of 30 shots.
